LE MONT SAINT MICHEL - L.Boukouvala - 10

Perched on a rocky islet, surrounded by huge sandy beaches exposed to a powerful periodic tidal phenomenon, between Normandy and Brittany, is the “Miracle of the West”, a Gothic Benedictine abbey dedicated to the Archangel Michael and the village that grew up in the shadow of its walls.

Built between the 11th and 16th centuries, the abbey is a significant technical and artistic achievement, the buildings have had to be adapted to the relief of this unique natural space.

The visit to the built environment of the rock, in the village, and the abbey, but also in the landscape that surrounds the rock and develops in various forms in concentric circles around it, is always an experience that reserves surprises the visitor by endlessly offering material for new approaches.
